What is MilkMesh?

MilkMesh is a community-driven mesh networking initiative based in Orlando’s historic Milk District. We’re building a resilient, decentralized communication network across Central Florida using open-source technologies like Meshtastic and MeshCore.

Our mission is simple: give communities the tools to communicate when traditional infrastructure fails — and have fun doing it.

Why “MilkMesh”?

The name comes from our home turf — Orlando’s Milk District, named after the T.G. Lee Dairy that’s been a neighborhood landmark since 1929.

The dairy connection isn’t just a name. It’s a philosophy:

• Fresh and local — like milk from a neighborhood dairy, mesh networking keeps communication local and direct
• No middleman — skip the corporate infrastructure, connect peer-to-peer
• Community nourishment — just as dairy nourished a growing Orlando, mesh networks nourish community resilience
• Always on tap — mesh nodes run 24/7 on solar power, always ready when you need them

MilkMesh is a community project, not a product. We don’t sell your data, track your messages, or charge subscriptions. Like a neighborhood co-op, we’re built on shared effort and mutual benefit.

Everything we use and build is open source. Meshtastic, MeshCore, our guides — all free as in freedom. No vendor lock-in, no corporate gatekeepers. The whole herd benefits.

⚡ Resilience Over Convenience

Florida gets hurricanes. Power goes out. Cell towers fail. MilkMesh is designed for exactly those moments — battery-powered, solar-capable, no internet required. When the grid goes dark, the mesh stays lit.

We know Orlando’s terrain, weather patterns, and neighborhoods. Our guides and recommendations are tailored for Central Florida conditions — flat terrain, tropical humidity, hurricane season, and the unique geography of the Milk District.

MilkMesh is a project of Tabaconda LLC, a Florida-based technology studio. We build tools and communities around open infrastructure — things that work for people, not platforms.

We’re not a mesh networking company. We’re a community of enthusiasts, tinkerers, and neighbors who believe that communication infrastructure should be as accessible as a glass of milk.
